"account": "Brazil holds a presidential runoff on Sunday, pitting incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a leftist, against Flávio Bolsonaro, a far-right ally of U.S. President Donald Trump. Bolsonaro, the son of former President Jair Bolsonaro, gained more than 2.2 million votes over Lula in the first round. Voter turnout was 33 million out of 160 million registered voters. Lula, the former union leader, cast his ballot in Sao Bernardo do Campo, expressing gratitude to the Brazilian people for their support. The first lady, vice president, and allies accompanied him to the polling station. In Rio de Janeiro, Bolsonaro voted at a school, vowing to bring change and criticizing the government's lack of progress. The runoff represents a clash between left and right, with implications for U.S. influence in Latin America and the potential for Jair Bolsonaro's father to be freed if the former wins. Brazil's electronic voting system ensures quick results, with counts announced within hours after polls close at 5 p.m. Brasilia time.",
