"summary": "Following Electronic Arts' October 21 announcement that it is shutting down BioWare and canceling the next Mass Effect game, the community has mobilized to protect the sci-fi franchise. Fans are using the hashtag #savemasseffect on Reddit to urge action, with some requesting that EA sell BioWare's intellectual property to other studios rather than letting it languish. According to IGN, tensions have escalated to the point that players are calling for a boycott of all EA products and services.\n\nOriginal Commander Shepard voice actors Jennifer Hale and Mark Meer have joined the movement to support the efforts to keep the series alive and gather further fan support, Polygon reports. The community response follows the news of the studio closure and the end of the Mass Effect Universe development.",
