"summary": "GoldBod, the Ghana Gold Board, has rejected claims that its CEO, Sammy Gyamfi, supports illegal mining. A viral video was edited to make it appear as though Gyamfi was endorsing galamsey, but the Board clarified that the footage was taken from a meeting where he explained the government's plan to bring informal miners into a regulated system. GoldBod emphasized that its goal is to transition eligible miners into a formal system, not to legitimise illegal mining. The Board is also working on a proposed ASM Formalisation and Financing Support Programme, which aims to provide financial and technical assistance to eligible miners, boost mineral production, create jobs, and mitigate environmental damage.",
