"summary": "Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has raised concerns over political interference in sexual abuse allegations at Obuasi Senior High Technical School. According to his report on JoyNews’ Newsfile, influential political figures in the Ashanti Region allegedly interfered with the complaints, attempting to settle them privately and pressure victims' families into withdrawing police cases. Manasseh expressed concern over the failure of school authorities, education officials, and political leaders to promptly report serious allegations of sexual abuse to the police. He recounted an incident where the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East allegedly contacted a housemistress and arranged for a student to leave the school for a private meeting, instead of reporting the allegations to the police. Manasseh also alleged that the MCE involved local political figures and allegedly paid the housemistress, contradicting the MCE's claim that there was insufficient evidence at the time.",
