"account": "The estranged father of Meghan Markle, Thomas Markle, has been accused of having child pornography material in his former home in the Philippines. Meghan has expressed deep distress over the allegations and stated that she was informed of separate allegations about her father in 2018. Thomas, 82, denies the allegations. Authorities in the Philippines and the U.S. are investigating the matter. Thomas Jr., Meghan's half-brother, found four large boxes containing hundreds, if not thousands, of child pornographic images and videos in his father's home. The elder Markle has claimed he is shocked, hurt, and upset by the accusations, and has denied the allegations. Local police and the FBI are conducting investigations, with results expected in about a week. The Metropolitan Police in London is not investigating the elder Markle but is conducting an internal inquiry into whether its royal protection unit passed the 2018 letter to Meghan. Meghan stated that she kept her children away from her father to protect them, as she had been informed of the 2018 allegations and was assured they were being investigated.",
"summary": "Meghan's half-brother had been the one who allegedly found the material and reported their father to the authorities.",
