"account": "Kenyan world marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir has been provisionally banned by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) following a positive test for the banned substance EPO. The out-of-competition sample was collected in Kenya before Jepchirchir claimed victory in the 2026 Sydney Marathon, where she set a new course record with a time of 2:18:31. This marks the latest doping controversy involving a Kenyan athlete, with over 140 Kenyan athletes sanctioned since the AIU's establishment in 2017. Jepchirchir, who previously held the half marathon world record, expressed her regret over the situation, stating that she believes athletes who use performance-enhancing drugs should be disqualified. Her agent, Gianni Demadonna, also commented on the matter. The AIU emphasized the importance of clean sport and the disappointment felt by athletes who were unable to compete on an equal footing.",
