"account": "The Federal Character Commission has demanded that the Nigeria Customs Service suspend ongoing recruitment training due to alleged breaches of federal character requirements. The commission, which is constitutionally mandated to oversee the process, expressed concern over the exclusion of candidates whose names appeared on the published final list while others who did not make the final list were invited to train. The commission's statement, signed by its Chairman Abdulwasiu K. Bawa-Allah, sought complete recruitment records, explanations for the omissions and evidence of compliance with federal character requirements. The commission also faulted the Customs Service for conducting the recruitment exercise without its oversight, despite repeated requests for information. The statement emphasized that the commission's role is vital to ensure transparency, equity and merit in recruitment exercises across federal institutions.",
