"summary": "Meghan Markle has expressed deep distress over allegations that her father, Thomas Markle, possessed child abuse images. The Duchess of Sussex stated that she had previously prevented her father from having contact with her children due to other troubling allegations. The Sun, Daily Mail, and Telegraph reported that the alleged images were found among Thomas Markle's belongings in the Philippines, though he denies the accusations. Philippine authorities are currently investigating the matter, with the Anti-Trafficking and Anti-OSAEC task force in Cebu leading the probe. Thomas Markle, who now resides in a rehabilitation center in Florida, has also denied the allegations, calling them \"sick lies\" that left him shocked and hurt. Meghan revealed that she had seen a letter sent to the Metropolitan Police in 2018 containing similar allegations, which she hoped would now be understood to be an attempt to protect her children. Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from royal duties and left Britain in 2020 due to tensions with the royal family, but unexpectedly returned to the UK with their children in August 2026.",
