"account": "Gunmen attacked a Greek Orthodox church in the village of Hammoud, located in Jordan's Karak governorate, on Friday, killing at least six people, authorities confirmed. Initially, the public security directorate reported up to seven fatalities, but later reduced the death toll to six. Two assailants arrived in a vehicle and began firing during a funeral procession, according to the directorate. Karak, a city with a significant Christian population in a predominantly Muslim nation, is situated 110 miles south of the capital, Amman. The gunmen engaged in a five-minute shooting spree before escaping the scene. Eyewitnesses reported that between 150 and 200 individuals were present near the church at the time, with the majority of victims falling within the age range of 50 to 70. In 2016, a similar attack occurred in Karak, where gunmen ambushed police, killing ten people, including seven officers, and wounding numerous others. Jordanian security forces eventually apprehended the attackers following a prolonged standoff.",
