"summary": "South African police are investigating the death of a foreign national who was beaten to death by a crowd of approximately 50 people in central Durban. According to MyJoyOnline Ghana, the victim was thought to be in his late 30s or early 40s and was declared dead at the scene after two men appeared to break away from a marching group to approach him. While the motive for the killing remains unknown and the victim's nationality was not provided by police, France 24 reported the incident occurred during a protest march in a city experiencing increasing anti-migrant tensions.\n\nThe killing follows months of anti-migrant protests in South Africa that have occasionally turned violent and drawn international criticism. MyJoyOnline Ghana noted that earlier this month, demonstrations against the processing of asylum applications at a refugee reception centre led to violence in Durban and the Soweto township, resulting in looted businesses and vehicles being set alight. These tensions have prompted thousands of migrants from across Africa to flee affected communities.",
