"account": "The head of New Zealand's military, Air Marshal Tony Davies, has resigned over an inappropriate relationship he had while in charge of a unit, according to the Defence Force. The resignation is due to personal reasons and stems from errors of judgment made by Davies in the past, which he takes full responsibility for. These incidents involved an inappropriate relationship he had when holding a position of unit command, and Davies regrets not disclosing this when he had the opportunity to do so. He requested privacy and stated that his current focus is on his family. The matter has been referred to an independent oversight body. New Zealand's defense minister, Paul Goldsmith, expressed disappointment in the circumstances surrounding Davies' resignation, noting that the reasons for his decision relate to integrity matters that he did not disclose previously. Davies, previously the head of the air force, was appointed chief of New Zealand's military in 2024.",
