"account": "Amazon has officially renewed Mike Flanagan's Carrie for a second season, revealing that the show has become the number one program on Prime Video in 105 countries worldwide. The announcement came today, October 22, following the show's strong reception by critics and audiences alike. Carrie has captivated viewers across generations, with particular appeal to female viewers and young adults, signaling the enduring power of Stephen King's story. Prime Video's Head of Global Television, Peter Friedlander, expressed excitement about the show's potential, stating that \"much more is in store\" for Carrie White's story. Flanagan, who served as executive producer, shared his enthusiasm for continuing the narrative beyond the original novel, emphasizing that the tale extends far beyond the prom scene. The show has deftly incorporated elements from King's other works, including The Dark Tower and Doctor Sleep, while introducing a new storyline involving Carrie's survival and her journey with astral projector Emaline as they evade a shadowy group of telekinetics. Despite deviating from King's original novel, Carrie offers a modern retelling of the 1974 book, addressing contemporary issues like student life, political concerns, and the influence of social media. The show has received high praise, scoring an eight out of ten from IGN, with reviewer Tom Jorgensen commending the smart social media adaptations and stellar performances by Summer Howell and Samantha Sloyan. Carrie is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.",
