"account": "The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCS) in Edo State has launched a search to recapture a 28-year-old man, Osita Thomas, who escaped while being taken to court last week. Thomas was awaiting trial for conspiracy and theft when he broke free from custody during a trip from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Auchi to a court appearance. The incident was reported by the command's Public Relations Officer, Aminu Suleman, in a statement to journalists. The NCS is asking the public to help locate Thomas and has given contact information for the nearest custodial centres and police stations. An official from the NCS stated that the escape was partly due to a shortage of staff to supervise inmates during court appearances. The official also noted that over 1,000 correctional personnel are expected to retire this year, without any plans to recruit replacements. The Edo State Command has strengthened security measures and remains committed to finding Thomas.",
