"account": "The Turkish Defense Ministry has stated that Turkey is awaiting a sale contract and a draft training program from Qatar in connection with a deal with Britain to procure Eurofighter Typhoon jets. This agreement was signed last year by NATO allies Turkey and Britain to strengthen bilateral ties and enhance Turkish air defenses. Ankara is also seeking 24 more jets from Qatar and Oman, but progress on this procurement has been limited. The Turkish ministry confirmed that discussions on the procurement are ongoing, with Turkish and Qatari delegations meeting in August and September to discuss technical and logistical matters, including the scope of jets, ammunition, training for pilots and maintenance teams. Qatar is expected to prepare the draft training program and the sales contract, which Turkey will then receive. Additionally, Turkey recently signed an accord with Qatar, Pakistan, and Indonesia to enhance defense cooperation and bolster defensive capabilities, including joint development and production efforts. The ministry also revealed that Turkey's defense budget for 2027 has been increased due to ongoing domestic defense industry projects focused on air defenses, platforms, the indigenous KAAN fighter jet program, drone development, and shipbuilding.",
"summary": "Under the deal with Britain, Qatar and Oman can supply Turkey with some of its own Typhoons, though that requires a separate sales contract.",
