"summary": "Emeritus Professor Peter Okebukola, Chairman of the Nigerian Tertiary Education and Research Analysis Committee, has projected that Nigerian universities will break global ranking records from 2027. This prediction is based on increased competition among institutions, rising research citations, and a new national ranking framework. The mandatory national ranking exercise, introduced by the Minister of Education in September 2026, is expected to intensify competition and encourage universities to showcase their achievements in teaching, research, and community service. Additionally, the growing participation of academics in citation-tracking platforms like Google Scholar and the design of the 22 indicators used for the 2026 national rankings are also contributing factors to the anticipated improvement in international university rankings.",
