"account": "Russia released American Stephen Hubbard after holding him captive for over four years, a move that came during a visit by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff to St. Petersburg. President Donald Trump had requested Hubbard's release during a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the administration did not demand any exchange in return. Hubbard, a 74-year-old retired teacher from Michigan, was accused of fighting as a mercenary in Ukraine, but his legal team denied these allegations. Upon his release, Hubbard was taken to St. Petersburg's Pulkovo airport for Witkoff to bring him back to the United States. Witkoff praised Putin as a \"humanitarian\" during the talks. Hubbard, who lived in Ukraine for years, was sentenced to nearly seven years in prison and was designated as wrongfully detained by the U.S. government under President Joe Biden's administration.",
