Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan's Outlier Society are developing the series based on Yarros' five-book arc. The casting of the lead roles was announced in October 2023. Esther McGregor, the 24-year-old daughter of Ewan McGregor, will play the role of Violet Sorrengail. Emilio Sakraya, a 30-year-old German actor, has been cast as Xaden Riorson.
