"account": "After years of fans apparently pleading with him, Kid Cudi - whose real name is Scott Mescudi - will step into the director's chair to write, direct, and star in a biopic about art icon Jean-Michel Basquiat. The rapper announced the film on Instagram, revealing filming will commence in 2027, and shared images of himself sporting Basquiat's signature hairstyle, a hint that perfection may take some time to achieve. Basquiat passed away in 1988 due to a heroin overdose. For years, fans have been clamoring for Cudi to portray the artist, but nothing materialized. However, the rapper has decided to take matters into his own hands and is leading the project himself. In the post, he shares test shots and describes tackling a \"film about someone who existed\" as both a challenge and an honor, calling it the \"biggest honor\" to tell the story of someone who has inspired him throughout his career. Fans have pointed out the physical resemblance between Cudi and Basquiat, even referencing the late artist's work in an unofficial viral music video for Cudi's song \"Ghost!\". Cudi has also mentioned Basquiat's influence in his past. This would not be the first narrative feature film about Basquiat. In 1996, Jeffrey Wright starred in the biopic titled Basquiat, which subsequently entered the Criterion Collection.",
