"account": "Pope Leo XIV will not require additional cancer treatment after surgery to remove a tumor from his right lung, the Vatican announced on Wednesday. Following final tests, the results confirmed that the cancer was a localized lung adenocarcinoma and had not spread. The pope's personal physician, Dr. Luigi Carbone, and his surgeon, Dr. Stefano Margaritora, revealed in a statement that post-operative tests on the tissue removed during the surgery validated the initial diagnosis. The statement further explained that the results of the final histological examinations and molecular biology tests on the removed material confirmed the cancer was localized. The pope underwent the removal of the lower lobe of his right lung to ensure the complete removal of the cancer. Should subsequent tests indicate the cancer has spread or is particularly aggressive, additional treatment might be necessary. However, for early-stage cancers, surgery alone can often be sufficient, as the tumors are typically small and not causing symptoms.",
