"account": "Pope Leo XIV, at 71 years old, has been diagnosed with localized lung cancer and will not require further treatment, according to his doctors. The Vatican announced this on Wednesday, following the pope's recovery from surgery to remove the lower lobe of his right lung last week. The procedure confirmed that the cancer, adenocarcinoma, was localized and had not spread. Pope Leo left the hospital on Saturday, four days after the surgery, four days earlier than the anticipated week-long stay. His personal physician, Dr. Luigi Carbone, and his surgeon, Dr. Stefano Margoritora, stated that the final post-operative tests showed no need for additional treatment. The pope had the surgery to ensure all cancer cells were removed, as incidental findings often lead to such treatment paths. He continued with his duties during his hospitalization, including a call with Russian President Putin and two public appearances at the Vatican. His next major engagement is a trip to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6-17.",
