"account": "Saskatoon's City Hospital has received more than a dozen new hospital beds, but the provincial government has delayed the full expansion deadline. Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill announced the addition of 20 acute-care beds, bringing the total number of new general medicine care beds at City Hospital to 60. However, the remaining 49 acute-care beds will not be ready by the end of the year due to construction challenges at both the hospital and Market Mall, a shopping centre where outpatient and continuing care services will relocate. Derek Miller, SHA's chief operating officer, stated that the hospital is preparing the spaces to be occupied by the new beds from November. The expansion is part of a $15 million investment in March 2025 to address capacity pressures in the province. The initiative includes hiring all required positions for the new beds, but the NDP is concerned about staffing retention and ongoing negotiations with the CUPE Local 5430, which represents over 14,000 health-care workers in the province.",
