"summary": "The Ekiti State House of Assembly has passed a bill for the establishment of State Police Services in Nigeria to address national security challenges, according to Punch. During plenary, the bill moved through second and third readings with all 21 members present supporting its passage, which Premium Times reports signals the Assembly's endorsement of a proposed constitutional framework for decentralised policing.\n\nSeparately, the Benue State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking to amend the Nigerian Constitution to allow for the establishment of state police. Daily Post Nigeria reports the bill was approved during a Tuesday plenary presided over by Speaker Alfred Emberga. The proposed amendment seeks to create a constitutional framework for state police services to operate alongside the Federal Police Service, with provisions covering funding, operations, and responsibilities.",
