"account": "Ng Joo Pong, Malaysia's esteemed cycling pioneer, has passed away at the age of 80, according to his younger brother, former national cyclist Datuk Ng Joo Ngan. Renowned as \"The King of the Road,\" Joo Pong made history by becoming the first Malaysian to represent the country in the Olympics when he competed in the 1964 Tokyo Games. Four years later, he returned to the Olympic stage in the 1968 Mexico City Games, further solidifying his status as a cycling pioneer.\n\nJoo Pong's illustrious career included winning a bronze medal at the 1970 Asian Games, a notable achievement in a career that saw him represent Malaysia at the highest levels of international competition. He retired following the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok, where he and his brother, Ng Joo Ngan, both proudly represented their nation.\n\nTragically, Joo Pong had been battling a second stroke seven years prior to his passing. In April of this year, he was hospitalized at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre after experiencing a dangerously low blood pressure level, placing him in a critical red zone.",
