"account": "Ng Joo Pong, Malaysia's esteemed cycling pioneer, has passed away at the age of 80, his younger brother Datuk Ng Joo Ngan confirmed on Wednesday. Dubbed \"The King of the Road,\" Joo Pong made history as Malaysia's inaugural cycling representative at the Olympics when he competed in the 1964 Tokyo Games. He further solidified his legacy by returning to the Olympic stage four years later at the 1968 Mexico City Games. Joo Pong's illustrious career also included clinching gold at the 1966 Asian Games, marking one of the crowning achievements of his illustrious international cycling career. He retired from competitive cycling post the 1970 Asian Games held in Bangkok, where he and his brother Joo Ngan both proudly represented Malaysia. Tragically, Joo Pong had suffered a second stroke seven years prior. In April of this year, he was hospitalized at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre due to a dangerously low blood pressure, placing his condition in the red zone.",
