"account": "Reno Omokri has been officially appointed as Nigeria's ambassador to Mexico, the country's foreign ministry announced on Tuesday. The Nigerian consul-general in Mexico City, Bemigho Reno Omokri, was informed by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Mexico in Abuja, José Manuel Briseño Flores, that the Mexican government has accepted his appointment. Omokri will serve as Nigeria's ambassador to Mexico, as well as to Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua, with the ability to conduct concurrent duties in each of the three countries. President Bola Tinubu nominated Omokri for the ambassadorial position in November 2025, alongside several other nominees, including Femi Fani-Kayode and Mahmood Yakubu. The Senate confirmed Omokri and the other nominees in December 2025, while President Tinubu approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate and high commissioners on March 6, 2026. Omokri, a former media aide to Goodluck Jonathan, has been preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by Mexico, the United States, and Canada, which has contributed to the delay in the diplomatic approval process.",
