"account": "Heavy rainfall has caused schools in Chennai and four other districts of Tamil Nadu to declare a holiday on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The districts affected include Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, and Ranipet. On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, Anna Salai in Thousand Lights, Chennai witnessed heavy rain with Meenambakkam and Nungambakkam weather stations recording 12 cm and 11 cm of rainfall, respectively. Rainfall was also reported at Taramani (10 cm), Madhavaram (9 cm), Villivakkam and Nandanam (8 cm). The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) predicts light to moderate rainfall to continue at isolated locations across the state until 10 a.m. on October 21. The forecast further indicates that a fresh system over the Bay of Bengal will likely sustain intense rainfall in Tamil Nadu until October 26. The RMC has issued orange alerts for southern districts such as Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi, which may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall up to 20 cm on October 21 and 22.",
