"summary": "Afenifere leader, educationist, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo loyalist Pa Reuben Fasoranti has died at the age of 100 in Akure, Ondo State, according to Punch and Punch Nigeria. Governor Aiyedatiwa announced the death, and This Day reports that he passed away on Tuesday.\n\nPresident Bola Tinubu described the late elder statesman as an icon and a beacon of principle. In a tribute, Tinubu stated that Nigeria will miss Fasoranti's wisdom, moral authority, and fatherly counsel. This Day reports that Tinubu characterized him as one of the last great titans of Awolowo’s progressive family, noting his life was a lesson in integrity, discipline, and commitment to the Yoruba people and Nigerian unity.\n\nFormer President Olusegun Obasanjo described Fasoranti as one of the last remaining titans of a generation that established the foundation for modern Nigeria. According to Daily Post Nigeria, Obasanjo noted Fasoranti's history as an educationist, a principal, and a Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under the Unity Party of Nigeria. Obasanjo further stated that Fasoranti served as a unifying anchor for Afenifere, stood against military dictatorship, and advocated for justice, equity, and true federalism.",
