"account": "The Ogun State Police Command in Nigeria has rescued 11 Ghanaian nationals who were allegedly held hostage in Sagamu after being lured with promises of Canadian and Spanish visas. The victims, including seven males and four females, were rescued by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit following intelligence received on October 19, 2026. According to the command, the suspects were deceived by a fellow Ghanaian national who promised to help them travel overseas. Each victim reportedly paid GH₵40,000 before being brought to Nigeria and held captive. The victims are now receiving necessary care and support, while detectives are working to identify and apprehend those involved in the criminal network. Ogun State Police Commissioner Bode Ojajuni praised the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their prompt response and dedication to preventing criminal activities in the state. He emphasized that the command will not tolerate a safe haven for criminals who exploit the hopes of others. The police urge the public to verify overseas travel and visa arrangements, and to report any suspicious activities to help combat transnational crime.",
