"summary": "The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has praised the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) for its efforts in formalising the artisanal gold trade in Ghana. Speaking at the African Minerals Policy Forum during Mining in Motion 2026, Karim Dahou, Deputy Director of the OECD’s Global Relations and Cooperation Directorate, expressed the OECD’s appreciation for Ghana’s progress in strengthening oversight of the artisanal gold sector. Dahou highlighted gold’s importance to Ghana's economy and its potential to generate revenue for investment in other critical minerals. He also reaffirmed the OECD’s willingness to support Ghana’s efforts to enhance governance in the gold sector, noting that Ghana’s experience could contribute to international efforts to develop transparent, competitive, and inclusive mineral supply chains.",
