"account": "A suspected gang member was seriously wounded after allegedly trying to stab a police officer with a sword during an altercation in Huruma, Nairobi. The incident took place on Monday, October 19, 2026, after police responded to reports of around 20 armed youth causing trouble and damaging property. Upon arriving, officers tried to identify the cause of the disturbance but were met with threats and stone-throwing. The confrontation worsened when a youth allegedly approached the officers with a sharp sword. The police initially retreated but were charged by the group, leading an officer to fire a warning shot in the air to disperse the youths. One suspect allegedly attempted to stab an officer, resulting in the police shooting him in the right cheek. Police recovered a homemade imitation gun and a sword during a search. The injured suspect was taken to Mathare North Level 4 Sub-County Hospital in serious condition. Other youths fled to the Kiamiko area. A separate incident involved police firing three shots into the air to scare off about 15 youths who allegedly stole documents and damaged property along Nairobi's Northern Bypass. No injuries were reported in the second incident. Police will investigate both cases.",
