"account": "The Black Queens have experienced a significant drop in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, falling five places to fifth in Africa, according to a report released on Tuesday, October 20. Ghana’s position in the global rankings has fallen from 59th to 65th place, as determined by their performance in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament, held in Morocco in July and August. The team was eliminated from the competition by Malawi during the quarterfinals and failed to reach the semifinals, thus forfeiting their spot in the 2027 Women’s World Cup. This drop highlights a concern, considering that Ghana had previously been ranked as high as 59th. On the continental level, Ghana has slipped from its third-place position to fifth place. South Africa and Morocco have now surpassed Ghana in the rankings, while Nigeria remains at the top. The Black Queens are scheduled to compete in the preliminary phase of the playoff tournament for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in the following month.",
