"account": "Union Home Minister Amit Shah embarked on a day-long visit to Punjab on Tuesday, touring Gurdaspur, Sangrur, and Mansa to meet the families of individuals who lost their lives in incidents linked to the opposition against the drug menace. Tight security measures were in place across the three districts as Shah arrived in Gurdaspur's Sri Hargobindpur, where he met with the family of Vikramjit Singh, who was killed on October 15, 2026. The murder, allegedly linked to opposition to drug peddling, raised questions about the underlying tensions in the region.\n\nFollowing his meeting with the Singh family, Shah proceeded to Sangrur district, where he planned to visit Gulzar Singh's family. Singh, a Dalit man, took his own life on September 7, 2026. Singh's family alleged that his death was the result of harassment and casteist slurs after he questioned Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema about the presence of drugs in their locality. The incident highlights the deep-seated issues surrounding drug abuse and its impact on marginalized communities in Punjab.",
