"account": "In Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has demanded that Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA), resign, citing the widespread accumulation of refuse on roads, residential areas and drainage channels. An insider informed PUNCH Online that Sanwo-Olu's dissatisfaction stemmed from Gbadegesin's perceived slow response to the waste management crisis, which has been ongoing for about six months. The governor's displeasure intensified after a visit to the Olusosun Dumpsite a month ago, where he witnessed the deteriorating situation and gave instructions for immediate action. Despite the governor's repeated pleas and efforts to enlist support from prominent Lagosians, Gbadegesin has been urged to resign. The waste management crisis has affected numerous communities across the state, including Mushin, Egbeda, Surulere, Ajegunle, Ikorodu, Ojo, Obalende, Apapa and Mile 2. Residents have had to deal with decomposing refuse along streets and drainage channels, raising concerns about environmental sanitation, public health and the state's image.",
