"account": "Hot Chip has released their latest album, appropriately titled \"A Long Way From Kansas,\" on January 8. To accompany the news, the band unveiled the single \"Random Violence,\" a poignant homage to their friend and former collaborator, Optimo DJ JD Twitch. The artist responsible for the video, Jack Cole, shared in a statement, \"Our dear friend and remarkable DJ Keith McIvor, a member of Optimo from Glasgow, tragically passed away in September 2022 after battling an inoperable brain tumour.\"\n\nHot Chip's Joe Goddard revealed that the late Keith McIvor was a passionate music enthusiast and a strong advocate for socialism, whose influence is reflected in the lyrics of \"Random Violence.\" The track is the first solo vocal effort on a Hot Chip album by band member Felix Martin. Furthermore, it also features guest vocals from Beth Ditto and Eddie Chacon.\n\nFollowing the 2022 release of their album \"Freakout/Release,\" Hot Chip has been quite active. They recently re-released their greatest hits compilation \"Joy In Repetition\" in 2025, appeared in the second season of Netflix's \"Beef,\" and celebrated the 20th anniversary of their second studio album, \"The Warning.\" \"A Long Way From Kansas\" features 11 tracks: \"Stuck Around,\" \"Waiting Around,\" \"Random Violence,\" \"The Mask Is Slipping,\" \"Splinter,\" \"Me In Your Head ft.
