"account": "In a candid Instagram Story post on Sunday (Oct. 18), Selena Gomez candidly revealed how the use of nicotine vaping has negatively impacted her voice. The 34-year-old singer stated that she could no longer alter her voice, as vaping nicotine proved to be extremely difficult to quit. Gomez emphasized that vaping is a foolish choice and altered her voice, urging fans not to listen if they are not fond of her altered vocal quality. She expressed her excitement about having stopped vaping, hoping to maintain this habit and offering words of encouragement to those going through challenging times: \"If you are going through something, you can get through it too. It sucks.\" According to the Cleveland Clinic, the dangers of vaping include addiction to nicotine, asthma, cancer, lung scarring, coughing, shortness of breath, and a dry or irritated mouth and throat. During an Instagram Live session in December, Gomez briefly addressed her distinctive vocal style, attributing it partially to occasional throat swelling. Additionally, she has been open about her struggles with bipolar disorder and lupus, both of which can contribute to vocal fatigue, hoarseness, and a rough, altered vocal quality. Gomez's sixth season of her Hulu comedy series, Only Murders in the Building, is set to return on Dec. 8.",
