"account": "Atta Kwadwo, a 30-year-old galamsey worker, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Bekwai Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region. This decision comes after the accused pleaded guilty to defiling an eight-year-old girl in Manso Kumpese. His Honour Isaac Apietu delivered the verdict. Prosecutors, led by ASP Lloyd Baidoo, presented the case. The incident allegedly took place on July 10, 2026, when the accused sexually assaulted the victim, an eight-year-old Primary Two student at New Order International School. The prosecution asserted that the victim and the accused were co-tenants at Manso Kumpese. The accused reportedly forced the girl to re-enter the bathroom after she had finished bathing and sexually assaulted her. The victim's mother became suspicious when her daughter was delayed returning from the bathroom and discovered the accused assaulting the child. The matter was reported to the Adubia police, leading to the accused's arrest and subsequent investigation. The victim was taken to St. Martin’s Catholic Hospital for medical examination and treatment. Reports indicated mild bleeding from the vaginal opening and minor injuries to the labia minora. Despite denying the offence during his caution statement, the accused was charged and convicted after investigations, resulting in the 14-year prison sentence.",
