"account": "The Oklahoma City Thunder have reportedly locked up guard Cason Wallace with a five-year, $139 million contract extension, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal secures the starting guard at an average annual salary of $27.7 million, which will become increasingly advantageous as the salary cap increases in the future. With this extension, all of the Thunder's starters — Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, Isaiah Hartenstein, and Wallace — are now on multi-year deals. Furthermore, Alex Caruso is set for three more seasons on the bench.\n\nWallace's decision to sign with the Thunder comes in the wake of the 22-year-old's impressive performance last season, where he was voted to the Second Team All-Defense. His shooting prowess from beyond the arc, with a 35.1% three-point percentage, may have attracted teams with ample cap space to make a competing offer. However, Wallace's experience watching Detroit's Jalen Duren drama this summer led him to prioritize staying with his Oklahoma City teammates.\n\nThe Thunder have been making strategic cost-cutting moves this summer, offloading Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe, and Aaron Wiggins in order to keep their core intact. Wallace's recent extension marks him as a key part of that core, demonstrating the team's commitment to maintaining stability and competitive strength in the league.",
