"summary": "Kim Ji-yong, the inaugural chief of the Serious Crime Investigation Agency (SCIA), pledged on Monday to end the politicization of investigations. According to The Korea Times and Yonhap News, Kim stated that the politicization of investigations was the root cause of past harms, including the abuse of investigative authority by prosecutors.\n\nThe SCIA was launched on Oct. 2 as part of criminal justice reforms that stripped prosecutors of their investigative powers following criticism of politically motivated investigations. Kim was appointed to lead the new agency on a Thursday.\n\nTo establish the agency as one that does not cause public concern, Kim stated the SCIA will strictly uphold neutrality, fairness, and procedural justice. KBS World Radio also reported that the chief pledged to end the politicization of investigations.",
