"account": "President Donald Trump unveiled plans to revamp the historic East Potomac Golf Links in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, amid a contentious legal battle surrounding the project. The proposed 18-hole course would undergo significant changes to the current layout and construction is set to begin in November, with a completion timeframe of 15 months. The redesigned course would be open to the public and capable of hosting major international golf tournaments such as the US Open, PGA Championship, Ryder Cup, and Presidents Cup.\n\nA federal judge recently criticized the Trump administration for removing hundreds of trees from the golf course without prior notice, violating a previous order requiring such information. Judge Ana Reyes has scheduled a follow-up hearing for Monday and has ordered senior officials from the Interior Department to testify. The administration has requested the judge recuse herself from the case, claiming she has shown animus towards the government.\n\nThe East Potomac Golf Links, in operation for over a century, is situated on an island in the Potomac River and is surrounded by roads, paths, and recreational areas frequented by bikers, picnickers, and fishermen. The design Trump revealed on Sunday appears to eliminate these public spaces. As a golf enthusiast who has owned multiple golf clubs, Trump has been eager to reinvent the East Potomac course since taking office last year. He described the current course as old, broken, dilapidated, and in poor condition, with hazardous trees and a collapsing seawall. Construction is scheduled to commence on November 15, but Trump did not address the ongoing legal issues surrounding the project.",
