"account": "Two individuals lost their lives after a pit collapsed on them at Sefwi Datano, a location in the Bodi District of Ghana's Western North Region. The victims, Kwaku Charles and Nana Dibi, are presumed to be in their early 30s. They were engaged in gold mining activities at a familiar site when the disastrous event unfolded. Reports suggest that a third individual was also present but has yet to be located. The community swiftly responded to the scene, assisting with the rescue mission. A rescue team, including an excavator, was deployed to extract the trapped miners; however, the effort tragically resulted in the loss of one victim's head prior to the recovery of both bodies. Joseph Debrah, a member of the Datano Unit Committee, reported receiving a distress call informing him of the trapped individuals. He promptly notified community leaders who mobilized youth to assist with the rescue operation. The police in Bodi were also notified and joined the rescue operation. The bodies were eventually taken to Juaboso Government Hospital mortuary for preservation, while an investigation into the incident is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragedy. The incident has deeply affected the Sefwi Datano community and has reignited concerns over the risks associated with illegal small-scale mining activities.",
