"summary": "Canada's defense minister, David McGuinty, confirmed on Saturday that fatalities and injuries occurred following a serious incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta. The incident sparked a major fire that spread rapidly due to high winds, according to the Municipal District of Wainwright. While the fire was reported as being held later on Saturday, firefighting crews continued to monitor the area.\n\nThe scale of the incident has impacted local medical resources. Dr. Warren Thirsk, an emergency department physician at the Royal Alexandra Hospital, told CBC News that healthcare facilities around the base became completely overwhelmed by the number of people needing care, leading to patients being brought to hospitals in Edmonton. Dr. Thirsk described the situation as a disaster occurring once every 15 to 25 years.\n\nPrime Minister Mark Carney stated that the government is working with local authorities and Alberta officials. Defense Minister McGuinty noted that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are involved in an investigation into the \"active and delicate\" situation. Neither the Prime Minister nor the defense minister provided specific details regarding the number of casualties or the exact nature of the incident.",
