"account": "Irritatingly low-price iPhone 18 Pro ads have popped up in Iran, claiming the devices were salvaged from a cargo ship that sank in the Strait of Hormuz. ProPakistani initially reported the discovery of iPhones amidst a container ship that went under in October. Hundreds of Iranian fishermen ventured into the strait on Friday, hoping to collect iPhones and French perfume that had spilled from the Singapore-flagged GFS Pride. One man noted in a video that they had heard about the ship's sinking and decided to gather the phones and perfume. Iran's cyber police warned the public against these suspicious ads, cautioning buyers to avoid paying deposits or fees until they could verify the seller's identity and inspect the phone in person. They also cautioned that seawater corrosion could damage the circuitry, batteries, and displays of any recovered phones. Furthermore, phones not registered with Iran's Hamta device registry might lose network connectivity, and buyers would not receive any warranty or official documentation. Singapore's maritime authority affirmed that the sinking had occurred and that all 21 crew members were safely evacuated. Iran's Revolutionary Guards had previously claimed the ship had struck a mine while navigating an unauthorized route. However, several recovery videos have been debunked as AI-generated by fact-checkers, including Iran's Factnameh and Al Jazeera.",
