"account": "A MACBAN chairman was shot in a targeted attack in Plateau State, Nigeria, according to a statement released on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama. The assailants are believed to be members of the Mwaghavul militia, though the identities of the perpetrators and details of the incident remain unverified. The attack has heightened security concerns in Mangu, where recurring cattle rustling and retaliatory violence have fueled tensions between farming and herding communities. The ongoing conflict has left residents vulnerable to violence, loss of livelihoods, and displacement, and allegations of targeted attacks against civilians have further strained trust among communities. Security personnel and local security groups, including Operation Rainbow, have also been accused of misconduct, including alleged reprisal attacks and cattle rustling. The shooting of the MACBAN chairman highlights the urgent need for security agencies to investigate the incident, identify the perpetrators, and prevent further violence. All residents of Mangu, regardless of their ethnic or occupational background, must be shielded from armed violence, and no individual or group should resort to taking matters into their own hands.",
