"account": "A major fire erupted at the Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta on Saturday, resulting in casualties and necessitating a massive emergency response, according to Canada's Defence Minister. The flames quickly spread beyond the base, engulfing nearby rural areas, thanks to the influence of strong winds that reached speeds of 100 kilometres per hour. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police were alerted shortly after 4pm following reports of a fire in a training area. The extent of casualties, whether killed or injured, remained unclear as of the early hours of the night. Emergency physicians reported that hospitals across Edmonton were inundated with patients, with the city's facilities becoming overwhelmed, calling it a \"major disaster.\" Defence Minister David McGuinty described the situation as \"very, very active and delicate,\" with authorities still investigating the cause of the incident. By 11pm, the Municipal District of Wainwright confirmed that the fire was under control, and property and critical infrastructure were secured, with no evacuation orders issued for local residents. Both Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe condemned the fire as \"significant and tragic,\" while Prime Minister Mark Carney offered his support. The military training base, CFB Wainwright, is one of Canada's most active military training facilities, housing the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre and the 3rd Canadian Division Training Centre. The blaze also disrupted advance voting for the upcoming referendum on Alberta's potential independence from Canada, with two polling locations in Lloydminster and Vermilion closing early and ballots securely transported.",
