"account": "An incident at a military base in Alberta, Canada, resulted in fatalities and injuries, leading to a major fire, according to the country's defense minister. Defense Minister David McGuinty expressed his sorrow over the loss of lives and injuries sustained during the event at the military base. He did not disclose the number of casualties or the cause of the incident, stating that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police were leading the investigation and describing the situation as \"very, very active and delicate.\" The Canadian Armed Forces, along with federal, provincial, and local authorities, were working together to manage the emergency response. The nearby town of Wainwright was providing hospital and firefighting assistance. The fire had crossed the base's fence earlier in the day and was spreading rapidly due to strong winds, with no evacuation orders issued at the time. Prime Minister Mark Carney conveyed his thoughts to the affected individuals, while Alberta Premier Danielle Smith described the fire as \"significant and tragic.\" Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, located about 112 miles southeast of Edmonton, is a crucial military training site that houses the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre and the 3rd Canadian Division Training Centre. McGuinty noted that authorities were still investigating the incident and would provide additional information as it became available. Prime Minister Carney and Premier Smith were in close communication, along with their respective ministers and officials. Canadian Conservative opposition leader Pierre Poilievre expressed his support for those affected by the fire and urged residents to adhere to emergency instructions and clear roads for first responders. The fire occurred just days before the province was set to vote on a process that could potentially lead to Alberta's independence from Canada.",
