"account": "The House of Representatives Committee on Host Communities has requested additional funding to complete the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project aimed at cleaning up the Ogoni region in Rivers State. Led by Chairman Dumnamene Dekor, the committee revealed that initial funding for the project has been exhausted and more resources are needed to ensure the project's sustainability. Dekor stressed that the project has exceeded expectations and highlighted the need for further support from those responsible for funding. HYPREP, the agency implementing the project, currently manages over 120 sites across various thematic areas, including remediation, shoreline cleanup, potable water provision, hospital strengthening, job creation, and skills development for Ogoni youths and women. The committee has also initiated a bill to extend the cleanup efforts to other oil-polluted communities in the Niger Delta region.",
