"account": "Pakistani forces and Afghan Taliban personnel engaged in a firefight along Pakistan's northwestern border on Saturday, according to Pakistani security officials and state-run media. The artillery-backed troops reportedly dismantled Taliban posts during the hours-long clashes in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.\n\nNo official comment from Afghanistan's Taliban government was provided at the time of reporting. The escalation of tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan has been fueled by repeated border incidents and Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan this year. The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan reported over 1,100 civilian deaths and injuries due to cross-border violence in Afghanistan this year.\n\nMilitant activity in Pakistan has intensified recently, with much of it attributed to the Pakistani Taliban, formerly known as Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Pakistan claims that numerous TTP leaders and insurgents have sought refuge in Afghanistan since the Taliban took power there in 2021, a claim denied by Kabul.\n\nSince January, Pakistani authorities have documented more than 2,800 militant attacks, resulting in 3,000 casualties across Pakistan, primarily in the northwest and southwestern Balochistan provinces.",
