"account": "The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has emphasized the importance of verifying phones before purchasing them, citing consumer protection, compliance with statutory requirements, and the need to enhance network quality. Edoyemi Ogoh, the Director of Technical Standards and Network Integrity at the NCC, explained this during an interview on Arise TV. Ogoh stated that the NCC Act of 2003 mandates the commission to carry out type approval, ensuring that devices entering the country are genuine and functioning as intended. This measure serves to protect consumers from buying counterfeit phones or imitation devices at prices meant for genuine products. He added that the NCC has discovered that some poor quality of service issues are linked to the devices consumers use. The commission's initiative aims to comply with legal requirements and ensure quality service for all users. The NCC advises consumers to check their phones' approval status before buying devices to guarantee they meet the commission's standards for use on Nigerian telecommunications networks.",
