"summary": "The upcoming Afrotellers Conference, scheduled for October 28 to 31, 2026, in Mombasa, Kenya, will bring together African storytellers, policymakers, and creative industry players to discuss the impact of artificial intelligence, cultural ownership, and global power dynamics on the future of storytelling on the continent. The conference, themed \"Narrative Sovereignty in the Age of AI and Shifting Global Power,\" will explore how African creatives can retain control over their stories, navigate emerging technologies, and strengthen the continent’s creative industries. Afrotellers founder and executive director Willson Chivhanga emphasized that bringing the conference to Mombasa would connect local creative communities with a wider African network, providing opportunities for local practitioners to establish lasting collaborations. The programme will focus on artificial intelligence and algorithmic colonialism, policy and advocacy, and the sustainability of cultural and creative economies.",
