"summary": "Ukrainian officials are in ongoing talks with US President Donald Trump's special diplomatic envoys to halt Russian military aggression, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. On October 17, Zelensky confirmed that Ukrainian negotiators held bilateral discussions with senior White House representatives, including National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Jared Kushner, to coordinate upcoming in-person meetings. Zelensky expressed support for dialogue, even if the ultimate goal is to end the war completely, and emphasized the need for meetings to begin. The diplomatic outreach comes as Ukraine prepares for complex negotiations surrounding prospective truces to protect municipal infrastructure during the winter heating season.",
